Copy form the library of Boudewijn Büch: with his written annotation on paste-down: "Wellington NZ / 2 IV 1995". The reverend William Spotswood Green [1847-1919], was an Irish naturalist, specialized on marine biology. He was the first climber in New Zealand to initiate mountaineering as a sport. An enthusiastic member of the English Alpine club, Green had spent six summers in Switzerland before coming to New zealand to tackle Mount Cook. After completing his adventures in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, he returned to England to continue serving his parish. Fine copy in a fine dust jacket.
