"Being a statement of the aims of the Fanfrolico Press both typographical and aesthetic with a complete bibliography and specimen passages and illustrations from the books". The Fanfrolico Press for Fine Printing was founded by Jack Lindsay (1900 - 1990) and "Inky" Stephensen (1901 - 1965) in Sydney (Australia). Their first publication was "Lysistrata"by Aristophanes. This work was illustrated by Jack's father Norman Lindsay (1879 - 1969), one of the most famous Australian artists, whose works were often highly erotic in nature (part of it was burned by American authorities as being considered pornography). In 1926 the Press was moved to England, when Jack left Australia (never to return there). As a business, the Press ceased in the 1930s. This 1928-publication lists the 16 works published by the Press (with specimens of texts and illustrations thereof) and provides also a list of the 5 works to be published in 1928. Other contents: "Policy of a Fine Press" by Stephensen, "A Letter" by Norman Lindsay and "Hypothesis of a Publisher" by Jack Lindsay. With title page vignette and 7 other illustrations by a.o. Norman Lindsay. This booklet was published in 500 numbered copies for sale (our copy being Nr 333) as well as an unnumbered edition for distribution gratis.Printed on white Japon de Luxe paper by the Botolph Printing Works. A very good copy.
