8-vo (13,5 x 20,6 cm). Pp. xvj, 128, (192) + 6 folding plates. Full marbled calf, spine with 5 bands, gilt fleurons and decorations and gilt-lettered title-shield.
Introduction with propositions, problems and theoremas, construction of the tables and instructions on their use. The work contains 100 unnumbered pages with logarithmic tables and 92 unnumbered pages with the sine, tangent and secant tables. In the chapter on the construction of the logarithmic tables, John Napier (1550-1617) is credited with the invention of the logarithm and Henry Briggs (1561-1630) and Adriaan Vlacq (1600-1667) are rightly honoured for their efforts in calculating the first series of tables. Jacques Ozanam (1640-1717), became a member of the Académie Royale des Sciences at Paris in 1710 and was a famous mathematician who authored a great number of mathematical treatises and reference works. The folding plates with many trigonometric figures. At the end 4 pages with titles of mathematical books to be obtained from the publisher-librarian. Several woodcut-vignettes, incl. on title-page. Frontal hinge in earlier times professionally repaired and lower 3,5 cm of lower hinge split, but binding is firmly holding and apart from these remarks a very good copy.
