Small 8vo, pp. [2], X, 156, [4]. Contemporary mottled calf. Gilt tooled spine divided into six compartments with a red morocco letterpiece. Illustrated with two folding plates.
Curious work completely on the nightingale by the French medical doctor L.-Daniel-Francois Arnault Nobleville, 1701-1778 . With two engraved folded plates by M. Aubert. One plate depicts this bird. The other - a bit torn - shows various kinds of cages and other devices. This edition was reprinted in 1773 by Debure. A German edition was published in the year 1752 in Strassbourg. Front pastedown with ex-libris of Rob Klinkhamer. Joints slightly weakening. Minor damage to back hinge. Pages a bit browned. Nevertheless a good copy of this rare first edition.
