8vo, pp. VIII, 224, 6, [2]. Original blue cloth with gilt lettered spine.
First English edition of one of Keynes’ most important books. A sequel to ‘The Economic Consequences of the Peace’, in which he argues that the amount and the manner by which Germany had to pay war reparations to the victorious allies was to lead to economic problems that would cause Germany's repudiation of the 1919 treaty. By the time this sequel was published, his controversial warning was proven unfortunately correct. It was later translated into numerous languages. Keynes is primarily known for his theories of macroeconomics as advanced in ‘The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money’, 1921. Spine ends with some shelf wear. Name on endpaper.
