Each volume is devoted different themes: Volumes I & II is concerned with religious manuscripts [bibles, psalters, antiphonaries & etc.]. Volume III treats oriental manuscripts, philosophy and history. Volume IV covers more worldly subjects [judaical, tournaments & etc.] as well as the indexes. Each volume with many tipped-in full page coloured plates and at the end an appendix with black-and-white illustrations. Joined a Sotheby auction-catalogue [December 6th 1988] of 8 manuscripts of the Ludwig collection and at that moment the property of the Getty Museum, including the Macrobius World Map and Portolan charts.
