Two theses (in Latin, with 34 notes) by the same praeses, Karl Johan Metzén, but with two different respondents. P. 1 (pp. 1-8, dated 20-II-1828): Claes Germundsson Vestling and P. 2 (pp. 9-16, dated 13-6-1828): Johan Fredrik Loenbom. Metzén (1796- 1869) was an assistant professor and eventually became a vicar; in 1858 he wrote "Tal vid invigningen af ny altartafla I Josefine kyrka af för samlingens pastor". Vestling (1804-1876) and Loenbom (1807-1870; in 1838 he wrote "Gamla historien" and in 1843 "Lärobok I medeltidens historia") both became dean. Title-page of 2nd part pasted on p. 9. Complete, all published; the copy of the Uppsala University Library (with the same make-up as our copy) bears a note on p. 16 "Quant. Prod." (this is all produced). Formerly, it often happened that 2 students were promoted on one larger subject, the total substance of which was divided between the two or more of them and any of them had to work on and defend a separate piece of the cake. These pieces together formed the whole entity, as can be derived from the continuous pagination, but each disputatio/dissertatio had its own title-page (Kernkamp: Het Boek 19 (1930) p. 376 & 23 (1935) p. 367-70).
